Holt got their London Three Eastern Counties campaign up and running with a pleasing home victory.

A catch and drive from a lineout saw the ball flung out wide for winger Ollie Woodrow to open the scoring early on for Holt, who had lost their opening game following last season's relegation.

Holt scored out wide again through skipper Ashley Woods and further uncoverted tries from Henry Harrison and Geoff Flather stretched their lead to 20-0 before West's Matt Clemans was stopped illegally just short of the line and Rob Whiteley duly slotted over a penalty to reduce the arrears.

Holt extended their lead to 25-3 early in the second half when Rob Gray crossed the line but West weren't finished and responded when fly-half Sam Moses rounded off a splendid sequence of attacks before converting his own try.

With the gap down to 15 points Holt were still under pressure at that stage but they rode the storm and scored two more tries through Tom Harrison and Rob Gray to seal a 35-10 win.
