Holt made it four wins on the trot on Saturday to move up to fourth place in the London 2NE table.

Playing Enfield Ignatians for the first time at any level they put in a determined performance to take the points after going behind to an early penalty.

Holt made the early running but had a setback after six minutes when they were penalised for not releasing, giving the opposition the chance to take an early lead.

This stung the hosts back into a positive reply and two minutes later they had taken the lead with a well executed try by Karl Rumsby, finishing off some good passing and running in from the 22.

Jackson was equal to the occasion with the conversion, making the score 7-3.

Holt were producing some confident play at this stage against a side who had large forwards and were meeting their match in the set-pieces. There was a further score on 13 minutes when the hosts were awarded a penalty for offside and Jackson stepped up to take the three points.

The game entered a stage of cut and thrust, but mainly with Holt having to defend and going through a phase of conceding penalties. Enfield's attacks were finally rewarded with a driving maul being rewarded with an unconverted try, reducing the lead to 10-8 with five minutes remaining of the half.

Holt had the benefit of the cross wind in the second half and did threaten their opponents' line, but without the necessary breakthrough. Again the play went into Holt's half, but the defence was equal to the thrusts against them.

Play again went up field, taking the home side close to the line. Unfortunately a good chance was lost with some ill discipline by Holt following the award of a free-kick, seeing it reversed into a penalty, enabling the visitors to clear their lines. Then, following an incorrect drop out by Enfield and with a scrum on their 22, Girling fed Justice, who in turn gave Jarry-Ryan a scoring pass for an unconverted try. This fillip gave Holt a seven point cushion with five minutes remaining at 15-8, setting the stage for a final wave of attacks by Enfield on the hosts' line, which refused to buckle.

With no fixture scheduled for next weekend the next league fixture will be away to Chelmsford, who are third in the table, with a similar record of five wins out of seven.

Holt's second and third teams also won on Saturday, beating Watton and Norwich in their respective Woodforde's Merit Tables, making it a successful day for the club.
