Beccles 1, Norwich City 2: Having gone down in the away fixture 9-0 Beccles started this match with some trepidation – however, with the positive performance last weekend spurring them on, the team soon settled after the first 10 minutes, Ali Foreman and Jodie Smith working some lovely passing moves.
The pace and passing accuracy of the City side forced Beccles to play defensively. Brenda Thompson, Tilley Aimee and Max Gibbs combined well to force the high fliers to work hard, but the pressure eventually led to a well taken goal.
Beccles worked hard to regain possession with good interceptions from Karen Knight and Debbie Mann. However, the class of the Norwich side led to another goal.
With a few injuries forcing a bit of reorganising; Beccles dug deep and, showing the determination that has enabled them to hold their mid-table position, Gammo nipped through the midfield combing well with Annette Freeman, before Jenny Callender swept in.
Beccles put in a solid demonstration of hockey in second half, ensuring Norwich had limited attacking options. Lorraine Greenwood kept Beccles' hopes of a draw alive with excellent work in goal. Beccles play at Thetford next.
