Highland Fling, a winner at Sedgefield on Tuesday, followed up at Fakenham yesterday, completing a quick double for Irish trainer Gavin Cromwell.

Ridden by Robert Dunne, Highland Fling won the £14,000 Fakenham Silver Cup. Although Dunne wasn't on board earlier in the week, he was clearly impressed by the 7/2 winner.

'The horse liked the good ground and did it well. I was confident in the closing stages,' said Dunne, recording his season's 18th winner.

Favourite Star Foot challenged late on but Highland Fling got the better of him to score.

Gina Andrews, a winner at Cheltenham the previous day, made a miraculous recovery on Walsingham Grange, but the gelding's error ended her chance.

The Prince Carlton Chase, over three miles, saw a start-to-finish success for Beeves at 4/1, under Sean Quinlan for Jenny Candlish.

Favourite Fingerontheswitch was the challenger but a superb jump at the last secured Beeves' victory.

'I get on great with him. He's a bit of a lad; you have to know him. But he's got ability,' said Quinlan.

Grey filly Hint of Grey took the Robert Case Memorial Hurdle after a patient ride by Conor Shoemark for Don Cantillon.

The 11/4 chance was switched off early on. When favourite Cesare Et Rosalie took it up, Shoemark took his time before responding. The penultimate flight was omitted and allowed Hint of Grey to race away and win by half a length.

Sam Davies-Thomas made it four wins from his last four rides when landing the novice chase on Master Jake, at 3/1.

Favourite Cabragh led but Master Jake, trained by Dan Skelton, took it up and safely negotiated the final fence to go one better than in his last four races in which he had finished second.

The selling hurdle proved an easy success for the Richard Hobson trained Caprice D'Anglais under Hugo Hunt.

The grey gelding led from the start, and won at 9/4. The winner was bought on behalf of trainer Sam Thomas for 6,500 guineas.

The finale, a chase, was won by D'Nailor, at 3/1, completing a double for Quinlan and Candlish. It was a first win for the horse in a race in which Tara Mac and Wish In A Well both crashed out.
