Ian Henderson looks unlikely to be returning to Rotherham after being loaned out to the Millmoor club for the second half of the season.

The 22-year-old striker played 18 times, mostly in midfield, for the relegated Millers after making his debut in the home League One defeat to Chesterfield on January 13. He scored one goal, against Cheltenham in Rotherham's final home game of the season.

He returned to Norwich after appearing in Rotherham's final game at Bristol City at the weekend and has now been released by the Canaries, who have decided not to offer him a new contract.

“We've spoken, he enjoyed his time here, but he wants to keep his options open just now and I can understand that and respect it,” said Millers manager Mark Robins.

“It is not necessarily closed, but we have got other irons in the fire and we are pursuing these, that's what happens.”
