Harwich & Dovercourt 0, Holt 15

Holt are also in the hunt after completing the double over Harwich & Dovercourt having won the home game 15-8.

They went in front with a penalty after two minutes, converted by Allen before the defence withheld a bout of concerted goal-line pressure by the home side.

Holt got close to the Harwich line before the interval but wasted their opportunities by giving away penalties or losing possession.

In the second half it became only a question of time before the lead would be extended, and eventually the pressure paid off with Graham Ilsley scoring from a push-over scrum. Allen converted for 10-0 and Holt completed the scoring when Graham Ilsley broke from the base of a scrum and put Young in for his first try for the club.

Though Holt were reduced to 14 men for the last minute, they held firm to put themselves in the mood for Saturday's trip to Cambridge to play third-placed Cantabrigian – who were beaten 27-5 by Southwold.
