It will be a nervous night of Grand Prix action for everyone connected with King's Lynn as Kenneth Bjerre makes his return to action.

Lynn's heat leader hasn't ridden since he dislocated his shoulder during the last round of the GP series a fortnight ago.

But the Dane gets back in the saddle this evening, just 48 hours before the Stars' big play-off semi-final first leg at home to Poole Pirates, as he looks to try and force his way into the top eight.

Team boss Rob Lyon will have to sit and cross his fingers that the Dane comes through the meeting in Stockholm, Sweden, unscathed after he declared the little pocket rocket as his number one for Monday's massive Elite League fixture.

Lyon said: 'We've just got to hope he comes through it ok and he's competitive and confident that he can do a job.

'Before us he's got Poland (for his Polish club) in the play-offs (tomorrow) so that's an important one for him as well. And then after Monday he's got Tuesday, Wednesday Sweden play-offs (for his club in Sweden), so it's going to be a tough time for him.

'Let's hope he comes through it. Having the first leg here on Monday will help him.'

The 30-year-old is 12th in the standings, with two rounds to go, and is nine points off the automatic qualification top-eight places for next year's series. He needs to muscle his way into the prized positions having missed last week's GP Challenge qualifier through injury.

If he fails to make the top eight he would be relying on a wild card for 2015 entry and is probably unlikely to get it with both his injured team-mate Niels-Kristian Iversen and Darcy Ward likely to snap up two of the three which are on offer.

Bjerre said, via his official Facebook page: 'There is still some pain in my shoulder but I am working as hard as I can to be fully fit for the GP and the remainder of my matches.

'I will take it one day at a time. I'm really pleased that two of my league teams Unia Leszno (Poland) and Indianerna have made it to the play-off finals, I really want to be part of those matches and help my clubs to some well-deserved silverware.

'King's Lynn has also made it to the play-off semi-finals so there are some important fixtures ahead.'

World championship leader Greg Hancock, who missed the last round, is fighting his own fitness battle to return for tonight. Last year's champion Tai Woffinden is hardly fully-fit himself but closed the gap at the top to just seven points with a brave performance last time out.

Lynn's Iversen, out for the rest of the term, still sits sixth but looks certain to crash out of the top eight this weekend.
