More than 5,000 tickets have been requested under the 'Free Residents scheme' for Friday afternoon's seven-race card at Great Yarmouth racecourse.

Promoted through April and May, the scheme allows residents from some postcode areas to obtain free tickets, and course executive director Glenn Tubby was delighted with the response.

'This is the third year and the highest number of tickets requested. I'm sure they won't all get used but it should mean a good crowd,' he said.

Feature race, worth £11,000, is the class two five-runner 4.40pm Moulton Nurseries Handicap over a mile and sees Frankie Dettori and trainer John Gosden field their only runner of the day in Ode To Autumn.

The three-year-old gelding was fourth on Chelmsford's all-weather track in May but had twice won earlier this year.

Likely favourite is the James Fanshawe-trained Insurgence under Daniel Muscutt. The three-year-old won at Kempton a fortnight ago. He is up six pounds in the weights while another key rival, Protected Guest, is up eight pounds.

Trained by George Margarson and ridden by three-pound claimer Jane Elliott, Protected Guest won over the mile at Great Yarmouth at the last meeting a fortnight ago.

If Fanshawe's Insurgence scores, he could complete a double because at 4.10pm he runs the favourite Mazzini, again under Muscutt, in the seven-furlong handicap. Mazzini was a runner-up at Doncaster and aims to go one better despite major rival Dance Teacher. David Elsworth's filly, under Harry Bentley, was a Kempton winner earlier this month.

Racing starts at 2.10pm with a five-furlong handicap for which Wiff Waff, Bentley riding for Stuart Williams, is fancied after finishing second at Leicester recently. Champion jockey Silvestre de Silva has a chance in the 2.40pm with Brian Meehan's Mendoza expected to better the third place managed on June 1.

Six fillies contest the 3.10pm 11-furlong handicap headed by course winner Camomile Lawn, ridden by Charles Bishop for Royal Ascot winning trainer Eve Johnson-Houghton.

Two horses with penalties should contest the 3.40pm 10-furlong handicap. Broken Force was a Haydock winner for Karl Burke a week ago while Dark Side Jazz was a Lingfield winner the same day.

The day's biggest field, of nine, contest the 5.10pm finale with Ertidaad sure to go well for trainer Suzi Best.

Selections: 2.10pm Terri Rules, 2.40pm Mendoza, 3.10pm Camomile Lawn, 3.40pm Arcadian Sea, 4.10pm Dance Teacher, 4.40pm Ode To Autumn, 5.10pm Wild Acclaim.
