Hart Stopper, under Jamie Spencer, landed the £20,000 feature race, the Diomed Developments Handicap, at Wednesday night's Great Yarmouth racecourse Ladies Night meeting.
Trained at Newmarket by Stuart Williams, the gelding pounced late to beat top weight Raucous in the five-runner field, both horses owned by Tom Morley.
Returned at 4/1, it was a fine success for the four-year-old gelding that joined the Williams stable after moving from Michael Bell's yard.
'We've not had him long so it was a nice win. We will go to Goodwood for the Stewards Cup but won't get in the handicap so will go for the consolation race,' said the trainer.
Hart Stopper missed the break at Newmarket last time but finished well and that promise was confirmed when he delivered the goods under a fine ride by Spencer.
A teenager with plenty to celebrate was 18-year-old Italian rider Sara Del Fabbro who managed her first ever winner when Letmestopyouthere took the opening Silk Series Lady Rider's Handicap for trainer Bell.
The 6/4 favourite was delivered perfectly by the jockey from Bergamo, who will celebrate her 19th birthday tomorrow.
'I'm the happiest girl in the world at this moment. I just want to thank everyone in the yard. It was wonderful,' she said.
The seven-furlong race for two-year-olds went to Persian Moon, under champion jockey Silvestre De Sousa. The Mark Johnston-trained Makfi colt, returned the 6/5 favourite, was the most experienced in the field and won decisively from newcomer Motalaqqy under Jim Crowley.
De Sousa went on to complete a double when Emily Goldfinch upset the odds in the four-runner Freederm Handicap, winning at 5/1 for trainer Phil McEntee.
Debutant Chippie Hill just delivered in the seven-furlong fillies' novice stakes, getting up on the line under Andrea Atzeni to beat outsider Cool Echo by a short head, returned the 1/2 favourite for trainer Roger Charlton.
Close finishes were the order of the day and seven-year-old Deeds Not Words landed the Aeropak Handicap after a photo-finish. Former course winner Arcanista made a late charge but the 7/2 winner held on under John Egan for trainer Michael Wigham.
The finale, the Ibuleve Handicap, went to Revived, completing a double for both Spencer and Bell. The filly was pushed through late to win in style at 3/1.
