Grady triumphs in battle of sexes

Two of Norfolk's leading professionals were involved in a battle of the sexes at the Norfolk Golfers' Alliance meeting at Royal Norwich.

There was little to separate Dunston Hall's Caroline Grady and Costessey Park's Ian Ellis on a miserable day but Grady eventually edged home by one shot. She recorded a highly respectable 70 in the medal format with Ellis returning a 71. Danny Chapman of Weston Park was third with a 75. Winners of the Myhill Bowl for amateurs were the city pairing of Steven Warren (Royal Norwich) and Peter Baughan (Eaton) with 67 nett. Joint second with nett 68s were Malcolm Hardingham (Swaffham) and Trevor Greef (Dereham), Les Grayston and Steve Mitchell (Weston Park) and Ian Ellis and Tom Clements (Royal Norwich).

Nigel Elmar and Terry Hegarty (Fakenham), Danny Chapman (Weston Park) and Matt Bacon (Costessey Park) and Carolyn Grady and Randy Reynolds (Fakenham) finished tied fifth on nett 69.
