Dunston Hall's Caroline Grady claimed an impressive win in the penultimate Norfolk Alliance event of the winter at Swaffham Golf Club.

The former Ladies European Tour professional was the star performer in the 72-strong field, recording 35 points in the stableford betterball format.

That total left her two clear of her nearest challengers, Ryan Pudney from Mundesley and Gary Potter from Richmond Park.

In the amateur competition for the Norman Hatch Tankards, Kelly Carter and Paul Howell from Sheringham took top honours with 42 points, two clear of their nearest challengers.

Other leading finishers: 40pts – Jon Toyn and John Little (Sheringham), Gary Cooper (King's Lynn) and Ian Lake (Swaffham captain); 39pts – Richard Aldous and Tom Morgan (Eaton), Paul Robson and Gary Hubbard (Royal Norwich), Trevor Cave (Eaton) and Fred Rogers (Great Yarmouth and Caister), Caroline Grady (Dunston Hall) and John Gaskin (Bawburgh).

The final event of the season, the Alliance Championship, was held at Bungay and Waveney Valley yesterday.

Meanwhile Norfolk professional Amber Ratcliffe plays her first competitive round of the year today.

The 21-year-old from Cromer is taking part in the opening event of the Ladies European Tour Access Series, the three-day Terre Blanche Open in the south of France.

Ratcliffe will be competing on the second tier tour after earning her playing rights by making the cut at the Tour School Final in Morocco just before Christmas and is hoping to use it as a springboard back to the big time in 2018. She missed the majority of last season after suffering from glandular fever,

Members of Costessey Park Ladies Section presented a cheque for £6,225.18 to AGE UK Norfolk at their 70th Anniversary Ball at Carrow Road.

The money was raised during ladies captain Sue Fage's year in office and will be used to print the Pabulum Blue Book which is used by volunteers and carers in the county for people living with dementia.

Eaton's Sarah Absalom had her first hole-in-one in the recent club March Medal. Her shot to remember came at the 13th, with a nine iron being her club of choice.
