King's Lynn Town boss Ian Culverhouse admits he will be looking for 'a vast improvement' from his side when they travel to Gosport Borough this evening (kick-off 7.45pm).

The table-topping Linnets were brought back down to earth with a bump at lowly Farnborough on Saturday as ex-Norwich City striker Jamie Cureton helped the Hampshire side to a 5-2 win.

The defeat left Culverhouse furious at his side's capitulation, describing it as 'a wake-up' call for anyone thinking they were well on their way to promotion.

But the Lynn chief is ready to put the episode behind him ahead of the long trip to Gosport, who sit second from bottom in the league table having taken just seven points from their 20 games so far this season.

'I have said enough about Saturday after the game and now as a unit we must move on from it,' Culverhouse told the club's official website.

'It is no good going over the old ground. It's happened, we deal with it as a team and we now face the challenge of Gosport. I am expecting a tough battle if I am honest.

'I didn't think they were a bad outfit when they were at ours earlier this season and last midweek they won at Farnborough – I really need to say no more do I?

'They have made some squad changes since we played them so I am expecting a difficult evening. It's never easy doing a distance midweek game with players having to take time away from work and arriving home in the early hours of the following morning.

'However, situations like this will be reversed later in the season and other teams are facing the same as us so we will buckle down and get on with it. It goes without saying I will be looking for a vast improvement.'

Goals from Michael Clunan and Craig Parker gave the Linnets all three points when Gosport came to The Walks on the opening day of the season.

However, Lynn will have to do without Clunan this evening as the midfielder serves the last of a three-match suspension for his sending off against Biggleswade.

Ryan Fryatt will be available despite his dismissal against Farnborough on Saturday although he will miss the weekend test against Slough.
