Gorleston's dream of winning the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division title was in tatters last night after they suffered a humiliating 6-0 defeat at second placed Felixstowe and Walton.
The Greens couldn't have made a worse start, going behind after just 13 seconds, and the match was over as a contest at half-time, with the hosts five goals to the good.
Dan Smy opened the scoring before a brace from Josh Kerridge and one each from Craig Jennings and Callum Bennett piled on the agony. Kerridge went on to complete his hat-trick after the break as Gorleston remained 13 points behind leaders Mildenhall Town with two games in hand - and just seven to play in all.
At Mundford Road Thetford Town scored two late goals to draw 2-2 with a Saffron Walden who finished the game with nine men. Ryan Fuller's 85th minute goal reduced the arrears while his injury-time penalty earned the hosts an unlikely draw.
