Gorleston reserved their biggest win of the season for the Bank Holiday derby day fixture, in front of a disappointing attendance.

The Greens made two changes to the side that had beaten Newmarket, with Kyle Howell replacing the injured Andy Howell, and Mitch Forbes coming in for Keegan Middleton with the latter on the bench.

Gorleston took the lead on 17 minutes when Ally McKenna outpaced Mark Vincent in the box and pulled the ball back from the byline to Mitch Forbes arriving in front of goal for a simple tap in from two yards.

The lead lasted just five minutes as Yarmouth equalised with their first threat on the Gorleston goal.

A deep free kick from the left saw Vincent arriving, unmarked, at the far post to head the ball in.

Bloater's keeper Ben Cudden denied a combination of Eddie Thompson and McKenna and another Gorleston corner was cleared off the Yarmouth line.

Adam Mills had an effort fingertipped wide before Jack Garrod saw his effort cleared away from the goal by Vincent.

Although the Greens had created all of the chances, at half-time there was nothing in the scoreline and neutrals may have been hard pressed to decide which of the two sides were the ones who had been relegated.

Gorleston began the second half with a Chris Sandford effort straight at the keeper then, after 53 minutes, the Greens regained the lead when a Gary Williams long range effort took a deflection which wrong-footed the keeper and found the back of the net.

Middleton almost reached a Garrod cross and Williams dragged another effort wide before the Greens extended their lead.

A great run by Middleton on the hour saw him pull the ball back from the left to McKenna in the centre of goal for a simple sidefoot finish to make it three.

Middleton then had a far post header from a Reece Hunn free kick go wide as he began to find his feet in the game.

Kyle Howell burst into the box and drilled a shot wide then, on 69 minutes, he drove into the box again, this time pulling the ball back across goal to where Garrod casually flicked the ball through his legs into the goal.

With eight minutes left Hunn was upended in the box and Adam Mills grabbed the ball to confidently convert the penalty and make it five.

It's now three wins in a four game unbeaten run for Gorleston, and their biggest winning margin over the Bloaters since April 2001 when the Greens won 4-0 in the Norfolk Senior Cup Final. Gorleston have previously beaten Yarmouth by 5-1, back in December 1972.
