Boss Richard Daniels has fired a warning to the players who will miss Gorleston's game tomorrow: 'Don't expect to just walk back into my side.'

The Greens welcome Felixstowe & Walton United to Emerald Park this weekend looking to keep up their fine start to the season which has seen them win both of their Thurlow Nunn Premier Division games and progress in the FA Cup.

However, while Daniels admits he has been delighted with his team's start, the passionate Gorleston chief is frustrated seven of his players are unavailable for the visit of Felixstowe.

Three are at the V Festival while four more are on holiday and Daniels hopes those that come in do enough to give him a selection headache when they return.

The Gorleston boss said: 'As a manager I'm not happy about it. Losing three to V isn't great, but for four to go away together on holiday is frustrating.

'Fair enough, if their work only allows them to take a holiday now, then so be it, but they're taking a gamble. If the lads come in and do the job, irrespective of the first three games, they'll keep their shirts. If the lads come back expecting to walk into the side then they've got another thing coming.

'I'm sure we're not the only side losing players to V as footballers are different today. But they've taken the chance and the reserve team may be their destiny.

'If the lads who come in don't do the job then we may have to reassess again but you hope those wearing one to 11 tomorrow perform to try and make sure they keep the shirt.'

Olly Thompson (knee) and Adam Mills (broken leg sustained against Mildenhall) will also miss tomorrow's game but midfielder David Hinton goes into the squad after arriving from Wroxham on a three-month loan.

Even though his side will look different to the one that beat Mildenhall 2-1, Norwich United 5-1 and Stanway Rovers 3-1 in the weekend's FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round, Daniels is expecting another good performance from his in-form changes against their Suffolk visitors.

'I can't doubt the fact that we're pleased with our start. We've got six points from six and managed to beat a very difficult Stanway in the FA Cup,' said Daniels.

'On Tuesday we played Norwich United off the park and we could have won by a bigger score. Then on Saturday we dug out a result which is good as we claimed different types of win. We're a different team to last season. It's mainly the same players but they've grown up a bit and matured.

'We're a different proposition now. You can see it doesn't bother the lads if we go behind. They've got the belief that they are good enough to turn it around. One thing that's become clear already is we are a team.

'If someone is having a bad game, say in defence, the others rally around and make up for it.

'Reece Hunn has been outstanding, and Steve Taylor's done well in midfield, but we've won games as a team. The way we kept the ball in the final 10 minutes against Mildenhall was a picture to see.

'We won't make any excuses against Felixstowe as it's why we've got a squad. We've still got a strong 14 and the youngsters are good enough. If we have an off game they will take us but if we perform we're good enough to take them.'

Gorleston travel to Needham Market in the preliminary round of the FA Cup next Saturday.
