And it proved the right choice on a wet and windy Monday for Dave Burton on his first ever attempt at the gentle art along with friends Tim Dye, dragged out from behind the counter at his Norwich tackle shop, and Trevor Day from Attleborough Fish Farm.
Even with the help of coach Tony Hull the usual buzzers, damsels and gold heads failed to produce a take for the three newcomers. First cast with the muddler, chosen by Dave, saw a heart stopping bow wave follow the lure and soon his first ever trout was on the bank.
A quick change by the other two saw them all taking a brace at their first attempt. Seventy two tickets have produced well over 200 fish this week which augers well for Jim Gill's 'Strictly Flyfishing' class on Saturday. Two place are still up for grabs. Call Tony Hull on 07774 483122.
