Dereham Golf Club has been awarded GolfMark with High Achiever accreditation by England Golf.

This award recognises the golf club as an outstanding supporter and venue for both beginners and junior golfers and is one of only three in Norfolk.

What is more remarkable is the fact that the High Achiever award was obtained at the first attempt following the rigorous assessment process undertaken by the Norfolk Golf Partnership. Karen Young, Golf Development Officer for the Partnership said: 'This is a fantastic achievement by Dereham Golf Club and I applaud all the hard work put in by the club.'

Club president Dudley Mayers said: 'We are delighted to have received national recognition for our club from the game's governing body England Golf and are looking forward to working with our members, our PGA Professional, Duncan Abbott and the local community to continue to bring more players into the game.'

Abbott is currently running a women's beginners course and after that there is an eight-week Get Into Golf course starting on Sunday, October 21 for all adults, cost 35, visit www.activenorfolk.org to register.
