Warm sunshine and a gentle breeze welcomed sailors taking part in racing at Horning Sailing Club on Sunday.

Over the course of the day 26 boats were enticed out to sail on Hoveton Little Broad, the Broad having reopened for the season over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Seven Yeomans sailed in the morning races, Geoff Stubbs crewed by Katja Garbe taking two wins, both times with Mario Tinge and Linda Whitefoot second in Fire Opal.

The dinghy fleet saw Lasers, Splashes, a Miracle and a Fireball take part, with the first race won by Ellie Edwards sailing her Splash, despite close competition from sister Pippa and Jack Barnham in their Splashes, and the second by William Symonds in his Laser.

With a dropping breeze during the afternoon, this resulted in a somewhat diminished fleet. However, a number of boats returned to the Broad to continue sailing. Racing was closer in the Yeoman fleet, with just seconds separating Mario Tinge, Roger Hannant and Geoff Stubbs, finishing in that order, while in the dinghy fleet Ellie made her second win of the day, ahead of Will Penny sailing a Laser, who won the final race.
