King's Lynn Town return to a level playing field of natural grass this afternoon after the artificial surface at Sutton Coldfield proved to be anything but plastic fantastic in midweek.

The Linnets had gone 14 league and cup matches unbeaten, but were perhaps feeling the after-effects of last weekend's gargantuan effort in knocking Eastbourne Borough out of the FA Trophy.

Manager Gary Setchell saw two players sent off and lost another player to injury, with Sam Mulready (hamstring) joining Danny Beaumont, who jarred his knee last weekend.

It means he has been shopping for temporary midfield reinforcements – and on Thursday night signed Histon's George Thomson on loan as well as convincing Danny White - who left The Walks in the summer - to return to the club.

Lynn welcome Belper Town today for another Evo-Stik Division One South game and it's time for Setchell to ask his troops to go again - a question he has no reservations about asking.

'The character of this group isn't in question and it is important that we get something today and make sure we keep pushing on to the play-offs and a top-five push,' said Setchell, who knows that any additions to his squad have to be made of the same stuff as the current occupiers of the dressing room.

'There's no point in having two or three big time Charlies in the dressing room to go along with eight grafters – everyone has to pull in the same direction,' he said. 'It is not about individuals, it is a team effort.

'You only have to look at when we score a goal, the celebration, everyone is there. We win together, we lose together, we have a beer together.

'There is a really unique feeling in the dressing room. No one is bigger than the club, and no one is inferior to the club, everyone is on the same playing field and everyone gets on with everyone else, which is very, very rare in the dressing room.'

Skipper Richard Bunting and centre-half Phil Gulliver are the two players awaiting their suspension dates, but it looks likely that Lynn's match report will question the referee's handling of the game.

'We won the fair play award for the first couple of months of the season,' he said. 'We have not had a player sent off in the league for two years and then you get two sendings off, three penalties conceded and five or six yellows cards in the same game – things have to be looked at, surely.'

Lynn face a Belper side which thrashed Romulus 9-0 in midweek.

'We know it is going to be a tough game,' said Setchell. 'We also know that if we play well we have a great chance – and we also know if we take our foot off the gas like we did Tuesday night you can get found out. But it is about us – we are not too worried about other teams. If we play well we know we have an outstanding chance of winning the match.'
