While London 2012 started the first day of Olympic competition, Forest Edge Arena held its own 'Olympic Weekend'. Red, white and blue rosettes, Olympic type medals and their very own podium, complete with flames, spurred competitors on.

Saturday was devoted to dressage and showjumping, Sunday to cross country and further showjumping.

The two Preliminary dressage classes were well supported, but Courtney Platton from Banningham rode both tests consistently and sympathetically to win both classes.

The showjumping was held in the indoor arena and started with the juniors. Eden Willmott, riding Marti Mcfly, won the 50cm class. Kara's Shining Star, ridden by Katie Bourn, won two gold medals, winning the last two classes of the day, the 90cm and 1m classes.

Sunday was the busier of the two, with excellent entries for the cross country. Millie Thompson stormed around the 70cm course to easily take gold. Laura Smith, riding Dixie, was the rider of the day. Making it look easy, winning both the 80cm and 1m classes. In showjumping, Pippa Atkinson won the 50cm class riding Peppercorn. Other principle winners were: 90cm class, gold to Kari Nash riding Blue and the 1m class winning combination were Kate Mitchell on her own Just Charlie.
