Fly Fishing: Rainbows up for grabs at Blackdyke
Some larger fish have been introduced at Blackdyke this week – two rainbows, one at 15lbs and one at 17lbs along with a brown at 10lb. There will be an ongoing competition for the largest 17lb rainbow – 2 to enter. If it's caught, landed and witnessed by fishery manager Paul Speed a 50 prize is on offer. Peter Hurren, a visiting angler, had a good day at the weekend with 16 rainbows and a 4lb brown – an excellent day's fishing. Daddies, sedges, hoppers, gnats and buzzers all taking fish this week. The water is still weed free, clear with plenty of free rising fish. Contact the lodge on 07525730447 for any other information.
Nar Valley
There has been plenty of carp action at Nar Valley Fisheries this week. Most of the carp from Lake Geneva are upper doubles and low twenties, but Steve Wallace bucked the trend by banking a 25lb common and a 27lb 8oz mirror from four runs in his latest session. The top fish of the week fell to Aaron Nolan, a superb 29lb common. All the night fishing permits are now sold. Rocklands
Strong winds and overcast skies made for some excellent fishing at RMF last week. Although difficult for anglers, strong winds on warm, overcast days saw a feeding frenzy of surface activity, particularly on Friday and Saturday. Geoff Peek from Stalham took advantage of this and in an evening session managed to land 12 rainbows. Geoff was fishing from the west bank and using a combination of black shipmans buzzers and klinkhammers. Strong gusts at the weekend, coupled with warmer temperatures, meant dry flies such as small hoppers in fiery brown or black, or black shipmans were all working well. Elk hair caddis or deer hair sedge patterns fished as a wake fly on the choppy water also made for some spectacular action. With an unsettled forecast for this week expect much of the same, with the fishing becoming better the stronger the wind. For more information call James at the fishery lodge on 01953 483971

Willow Lakes
Successful anglers at Willow Lakes have used dry flies and emergers. Trout have been rising all day to hatching buzzers but have proved the need for good presentation. A sunk line with Damsel nymphs fished slow has also been successful.
