Norwich United returned from high-flying Thurrock with an excellent three points thanks to Christy Finch's first-half strike and a resilient defensive display.

The win keeps their hopes of a play-off spot alive and with six of their remaining eight games at Plantation Park, Steve Eastaugh's men are still very much in the race.

Finch struck in the 32nd minute – Steve Shipley's long ball out of defence deceived the home defence and Finch allowed the ball to cross his body before striding forward, taking the ball into the area and striking a fine shot just inside Bobby Mason's post.

After the interval the Planters defence didn't give the hosts a chance and Finch saw another fine effort tipped over by Mason as the Planters eased home.
