Wisbech Town will make an appearance in the second round proper of the FA Vase for the first time since 2014 after a thumping 4-0 win over Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division leaders Felixstowe & Walton United.

The Fenmen got off to the perfect start as Alex Beck volleyed Billy Smith’s cross-field ball past keeper Danny Crump in the sixth minute.

Wisbech fans could barely believe their eyes in the 21st minute as skipper Jon Fairweather was given the freedom of the Elgoods Fenland Stadium to head home Danny Setchell’s corner and make it 2-0.

The visitors were no doubt given a good half-time talking to, but it took Wisbech just three minutes of the second period to extend their lead. Keeper Paul Bastock’s wind-assisted kick was flicked on by Beck and Michael Frew did the rest. Felixstowe kept plugging away to get a foothold in the game but when Jamal Wiggins diverted Adam Millson’s shot into his own net in the 76th minute, there was no coming back.
