Rivals Wroxham and Dereham will lock horns for the third time this season in tonight's Norfolk Senior Cup final.

The Ryman North clubs will be aiming to finish their campaigns on a high when they battle it out for glory at Carrow Road after narrowly missing out on the play-offs. The showcase fixture is nicely poised ahead of kick-off with both teams having recorded home wins in their league encounters this season.

Dereham boss Matt Henman said: 'We aimed for a play-off finish in the league, a good FA Cup and Trophy run and to win the Senior Cup. We are disappointed to miss out on the play-offs, however, our other objectives have all been met or are still achievable.

'Both teams know a lot about each other. I think we could nearly name each other's starting 11. Maybe we have an edge in that we've played quite a few different ways this season though and it may be difficult for Wroxham to second guess our plans.'

The Yachtsmen lost 2-0 at Dereham in the league but won 3-1 at home.

Wroxham have been runners-up in the previous two seasons while the Magpies last reached the final – where they beat King's Lynn Town – in 2011. So they will be even more determined to make sure they are not the nearly men for the third year running.

Boss Stewart Larter, who oversaw Gorleston's victory over the side he now manages in 2014 at the home of Norwich City, said: 'We have played Dereham twice this season and as our most local team in the Ryman North we sometimes watch opposition that they are playing prior to us. Some of the football we have played has been attractive and effective. To win two games 8-0 at Step Four (of the non-league ladder) against different opposition is probably the highlight.

'I am also proud how a lot of the players have taken to Ryman League football from the Thurlow Nunn League and they should be proud of their efforts too.'

The pair met in the 2007 final with Dereham, who have won all three of their finals at Carrow Road, winning the encounter 1-0.

Admission on the gate is £7 for adults and £2 for concessions. Kick-off is at 7.30pm.
