Fakenham Cricket Club's Emily Woodhouse has won the Norfolk Cricket Board's Young Coach of the Year award.

Woodhouse, who recently won Fakenham's Club Person of the Year gong, picked up her latest accolade during a day at the ECB National Performance Centre in Loughborough. She was also nominated for the ECB version of the award and finished runner-up.

As part of her prize she undertook a tour of the Leicestershire venue which is used regularly by all the ECB teams including the men and women's England teams.

Special coaching masterclass sessions were arranged which were led by ECB coaches which included Mark Ramprakash (batting), Kevin Shine (bowling), Peter Such (spin bowling) and Chris Taylor (fielding).

This gave all the nominees an insight into elite level coaching.

Norfolk Cricket Board stated that Woodhouse has made a significant contribution to Norfolk Cricket in the short time she has been involved in coaching activities and she shows promise for the years ahead, both in terms of club youth development and also the county women's teams.

Woodhouse started coaching in 2013 and quickly qualified as a level one coach where she helped with youth coaching at Fakenham Cricket Club and quickly progressed to level two. She now plays a major part in youth coaching at the club.

She was also responsible for this year's ECB All Stars softball cricket for under 9s which ran for eight weeks.

Woodhouse also captains Norfolk Ladies' cricket team and coaches in many local schools and has made a real impact on the development of many young people. Woodhouse, who was invited to Lord's after being nominated for the ECB award, said: 'I was invited not really knowing what to expect, and honoured to see I was in the top three (for the ECB award).

'It was a fantastic day at Lord's Cricket Ground, meeting top cricket personalities including Stuart Broard and Eoin Morgan. Although I didn't come away a winner, I was overwhelmed to be recognised as runner up in a national award.'

Fakenham Cricket Club offered their congratulations, and thanked her for all the hard work she has put in at the club.
