Away-day kings Wisbech Town will have to taste success on the road again if they want to take another step towards the FA Vase final.

The Fenmen's reward for their fourth successive victory away from the Elgood's Fenland Stadium in this season's competition at the weekend is another fixture elsewhere in the country. Dick Creasey and Paul Cousins' side will visit either Southampton-based Sholing or Larkhall Athletic, near Bath, in the quarter-finals on Saturday, March 8. And after securing a fantastic 2-1 victory at Hadleigh United on Saturday, Creasey admits he half-expected the club to land their eighth Vase away game on the bounce.

Creasey said: 'I don't know if I'm disappointed about being away, we've got used to it now. But from the club's point of view it's extremely disappointing. We would have expected 1,000 people for an FA Vase quarter-final if we were at home but that chance has been taken away from us again. There's nothing we can do about it so we'll just have to make sure we do the job on the day.'

Sholing sit second in the Wessex Premier Division, but have a host of games in hand on the side above them, having only lost once in the league this term. Larkhall are top of the Western Premier Division. However, being underdogs next month will be nothing new for Wisbech – who haven't played at home in the prestigious competition for two years.

'It doesn't matter who you get at this stage,' said Creasey.

'There's not going to be too many poor teams in the last eight. I hear Sholing are third favourites but Ashington were fancied and we went and won there.'

The region's FA Vase heroes will be without a game on Saturday however – much to the anger of Creasey.

Wisbech's reward for progressing to the last eight is a weekend off after the United Counties League Premier Division postponed their home clash against Wellingborough Town.

Creasey said: 'I'm more disappointed with the UCL than I am landing another away game in the Vase if I'm honest.

'Not being funny, the week after winning an away Vase game, we'd have had a big crowd and we want to keep our momentum going. We want to keep the players' legs moving and make sure we get plenty of minutes into the players before the next Vase game. It's annoying and I don't think the UCL are helping us at all.'

The fixture has been called off so Wellingborough can fulfil a Knockout Cup fixture.Creasey is now likely to attend Sholing's fifth-round Vase match with Larkhall after it got postponed at the weekend.
