Gary Setchell is ready to try his luck again in the Evo-Stik Premier Division's latest game of chance for the Linnets.

Town have won four, drawn two, and lost three of their opening nine league matches and sit sixth ahead of this afternoon's trip to Rushall Olympic. And Setchell admits the inconsistent nature of his side's results so far just proves how tight the Northern Premier League will be again this season.

Setchell said: 'What I've learned about Step Three football is 'don't be too hard on yourselves when you lose a game' because it's going to happen.

'We had great years at Step Five and Step Four and last year at Step Three you'd beat yourself up if you lost a game, but it happens. This league is like bingo. They pull the results number out of a hat.

'Rushall three this week, Stamford nil this week, that is how it is. Every team beats every team. FC United. Who would have thought they would have only won two games out of their first nine? I thought they'd win more than that.'

The Linnets thumped Rushall 6-0 at The Walks last season but lost the return 3-1. The Pics have also had an indifferent start to the term having not lost against the five teams they have played who are in the top half and not won in the four matches they have played against teams in the bottom 12.

Lynn, who beat Boston Town 7-0 in the FA Cup on Saturday, will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Evo-Stik having picked up one point from the last six, which included a 2-1 loss at home to league-leading Buxton – tied at the summit with two other teams on 18 points – on Tuesday night.

'Buxton made it very difficult for us, they worked their socks off,' Setchell also told his club's official YouTube channel.

'The long and short of it was too many of my key players didn't play well enough. We gave the ball away softly. On Saturday against Boston everyone wanted the ball and we were popping it about. But on Tuesday, Buxton didn't let us do that and we found it very difficult.

'But that's when you need your big players to stand up and be counted. We've talked about the match-winners but on Tuesday they didn't turn up and they got outworked by the three lads in midfield for Buxton.'

Dan Quigley (ankle) and Sam Mulready (concussion) will miss out. Jackson Ramm should return while youngsters Shaun Stocker and Chris Ward are likely to make the squad.
