Extra ‘game-day’ training for Dereham Town ahead of AFC Sudbury’s visit
Magpies boss Matt Henman will have his Dereham Town players in early today for some extra training as they prepare to welcome AFC Sudbury.
Dereham picked up their first Ryman Division One North win at Brentwood Town on Saturday but crashed to a 4-1 home defeat to Witham Town on Tuesday – in a match which saw Shaun Bammant and Adam Gusterson sent off. And Henman is looking for an instant reaction – and better defending – against former Wroxham boss David Batch's side.
He said: 'We are coming in early today to work on certain areas of our game, where we feel we are lacking at the minute. We have been conceding too many goals of late, but I know that is a team problem, not just a defence issue, so we will be looking at that and trying to improve ahead of the next few matches. Sudbury are a team we know a little bit more about, as they have got a lot of old Wroxham players and we are probably more informed about them than any of our other opponents so far this season.'
The Aldiss Park chief is happy his men have two games in three days across the Bank Holiday weekend and believes it's the perfect opportunity to bounce back from their midweek drubbing.
'It is good to have games coming thick and fast as, after a defeat you don't want to be dwelling on it and we have got an important weekend coming up. We've got two tough games' added Henman, whose men make the short trip to Wroxham in 48 hours.
