Expect final-day drama as Lowestoft Town look to seal another Ryman Premier Division play-off place

The Ryman Premier Division outfit have endured a tough term but remarkably control their own destiny with regards to reaching the end-of-season shoot-out. And momentum is a key word for the Blues' management team, as they focus solely on this afternoon's encounter with mid-table Harrow Borough.

They know that after a tremendous run of just two defeats in their last 18 games, which has catapulted them into fourth place, they're closer to fulfilling their dream once more – but it's all still to play for.

As it stands, second-placed Bognor Regis and Kingstonian in third have sealed two of the four play-off semi-final slots. With Lowestoft, Dulwich Hamlet, AFC Hornchurch and Maidstone all still in the mix, two of these teams will make it through to Wednesday's semi-final showdowns, with the final held on Monday, May 5.

After a spell of five games in 10 days saw Lowestoft collect seven points from a possible nine in games against Grays, Billericay and Bury Town, Blues joint boss Ady Gallagher, inset, said he was proud of his players.

The Trawlerboys chief said: 'We've got ourselves into a fantastic position to challenge and the lads have shown tremendous courage over the past two weeks.

'All roads lead to Crown Meadow today – and without a doubt our fans can play their part. Their support has been fantastic, as ever, this season and the momentum we've been on recently has been carried on by them. Their support really can make it our 12th man – so be as vocal as possible and keep pushing the lads on.

'The lads have shown in the past five games that they are definitely up to the task and it is just a matter of being as brave as they can be this afternoon. The Billericay and Bury results have given everyone a lift. It will be a great boost for the club if we can get in the play-offs and it will be a real success. But we're not there yet, and we're not getting carried away.

'The reality is it is down to us to make sure we follow this hard work through and it is down to us to get the result. It takes a strong belief to make the play-offs, we are in that position now and we all know the prize.'

Lowestoft have 81 points, the same amount as the side below them, Dulwich, but with a superior goal difference of two. Hornchurch are knocking on the door with 80 while outsiders Maidstone have 78 and must win to stand any chance of gatecrashing the party. Dulwich host already qualified Kingstonian, Hornchurch entertain Met Police while Maidstone welcome Grays Athletic on what's set to be another dramatic day.
