It was plastic fantastic for Lynn in the Midlands tonight as they kept up the pressure on table-topping Coalville Town with another win.

Gary Setchell's Evo-Stik Division One South promotion hopefuls won on the Coles Lane 3G surface where their earlier 14-game unbeaten run this term came crashing to an end. But this time, the yellows didn't slip up on the synthetic surface as they racked up their seventh straight win, thanks to goals from George Thomson and Danny Beaumont, to keep up an impressive 100pc league record in 2013.

And, to make things even better for The Walks outfit, Coalville dropped their seventh point out of nine by drawing 1-1 at home to Belper Town. The Ravens' wobble leaves Lynn 14 points behind them, having played three games less – and Setchell's men still have to play them at Owen Street.

In-form Lynn, now unbeaten in eight Evo-Stik matches, dominated the first-half against the struggling Roms – who played with 10 men for an hour – from the moment 'keeper Danny Gay made a stunning save from Tyron Amory in the second minute.

Ryan Fryatt went close to finishing off a sweeping move before another flowing attack, involving marauding full-back Jordan Yong, presented an opening for Shane Tolley. His effort was blocked and Thomson screwed his rebound wide.

The visitors' pressure finally paid off in the 27th minute when Sam Mulready latched onto Tolley's slide-rule ball and was brought down by the Roms' number one Lewis Exall. The hosts' keeper was sent off and Thomson cooly stroked the ball past stand-in goalie Amory.

Setchell would have hoped his men could breeze to victory from there, but they didn't. And Lynn were lucky not to be level at the break when Danny O'Callaghan twisted his way into space but slashed wide when it was easier to score.

Mulready, Tolley and substitute Steve Spriggs forced saves of sorts out of the Roms' makeshift 'keeper but the longer the game went on the nervier it became. And had Gay not saved from O'Callaghan – who flashed a header inches wide with about 10 minutes left – it could have been so different.

But to Lynn's relief, Beaumont wrapped it up in the 87th minute when he pounced on Spriggs' parried shot before Luke Keen grabbed a deserved consolation for the hosts.
