No England fans were arrested in Norfolk in connection with the football following a thrilling World Cup quarter-final win against Sweden.
Match-day policing commander Chief Superintendent Dave Marshall said fans showed 'great spirit' which resulted in minimal disorder.
He said: 'Anticipating large crowds due to the football and Lord Mayor's Procession, we had additional officers on patrol in Norwich and across the county.
'There was a great atmosphere in the city and I'm pleased fans embraced the event and showed good spirit.'
It was a busy Saturday across Norfolk in addition to the football, with the Lord Mayor's Procession in Norwich and Festival Too in King's Lynn - where 10,000 people turn out to watch headliner Pixie Lott.
Chief supt Marshall added: 'Additional cordons were also put in place to ensure the safety of those attending the Lord Mayors Procession after the match and I would like to thank fans for their patience and their co-operation during this time.'
The streets of Norwich and the county's other towns are sure to be packed again on Wednesday as fans cheer on England in their semi-final match against Croatia.
'It's an exciting time for England fans and as they prepare for their semi-final match so do we,' said chief supt Marshall. 'We will have extra resources in place for the match on Wednesday and hope it passes without incident, just like yesterday.
'I would personally like to thank you for your excellent behaviour during the match and hope you bring the same attitude when we play Croatia this week.'
