Emms grabs lead in cup

WINTER SERIES: The second round of the Gordon Johnson winter series was fished on the Mere in Diss last weekend.

Junior angler Ashley Emms has carved out a good chance for himself of a cup win when he took first place, beating 12 senior anglers. Just four skimmers and a couple of roach gave Emms the win which was all taken on the feeder and weighing in at 2lb 11.

Second place went to John Cole, who used the pole and fished over a bed of groundbait and caught roach at 13 metres in the deeper water and ended the match with 2lb 9oz. Third went to Jimmy Ellis with two fish for 2lb 6oz.

All trophies and cups are due back to match secretary Andrew Mears by the end of March. Cups and trophies may be handed in to Pegg Angling in Victoria Road, Diss.
