Despite a recent outbreak of ringworm at Easton College, the shows due to take place over this coming weekend are now going ahead, following a report from Chapelfield Veterinary Partnership.
Last weekend's show jumping was cancelled following the suspected outbreak of the condition, which is highly infectious. Animals affected are now undergoing treatment and the equestrian centre is implementing a full quarantine for those horses affected, alongside a series of measures to disinfect stables, fields and equipment.
'The cases so far have been predominantly affecting the head and this is most likely caused by rubbing against a post, gate or surface that has been contaminated by an incoming horse, or direct horse to horse grooming,' the report stated.
As a result of the centre's prompt response, Chapelfield Veterinary Partnership has now said that the venue can run competitions this weekend, as the risk of coming into contact with the infection is minimal.
