Gorleston have taken over as Norfolk's best performing team in the Eastern Counties League after another high-scoring win.

The Greens thumped Haverhill Rovers 4-1 at Emerald Park to move into eighth place in the Premier table on a day when more games were lost to the freezing weather conditions.

It's six wins in a row for Stewart Larter's Gorleston – with 25 goals scored in the process. Jack Garrod opened the scoring on 20 minutes with Ross Gilfedder doubling the lead before making it 3-0 from the penalty spot on 54 minutes – his 10th goal in his last six games – and soon after the hour mark an own goal made it 4-0. The visitors pulled one back with seven minutes remaining.

Wroxham slipped to 10th after a 1-1 draw at home to Ipswich Wanderers – Peter Wiltshire getting an equaliser for the Yachtsmen, while Kirkley & Pakefield were held to a goalless draw at home by Histon.

Four games survived the conditions in the First Division, and there were plenty of goals for the two Norfolk teams involved to cheer.

Swaffham Town thumped in seven without reply at home to AFC Sudbury while Norwich CBS were 5-3 home winners over Debenham LC.

The Pedlars went ahead on 25 minutes, Matthew Blackford rising to beat the keeper on the near post from a Ryan Pearson corner. Ten minutes later Joe Jackson opened his account and a minute later got his brace, lobbing the keeper from the left side of the box.

Blackford made it four in the 43rd minute and Alex Vincent got on the score-sheet in the 68th minute with his fourth headed goal of the season. Matthew Prudence got in on the act in the 76th minute and again on 86 – both with a little help from Nick Castellan.

Norwich CBS finally got to play after a wait of 21 days, but showed no signs of rust.

James Page fired in a beauty of a free-kick to start to goalfest, Matthew Doyle then grabbed his first with a neat finish after some good work by Joe Easton. Debenham created a couple clear-cut chances but John Howes was in fine form. Jordan Attree made it 3-0 with a delightful finish to end the half.

Debenham came out fighting in second half and soon made it 3-2, but Doyle looked to have sealed it with a close-range shot for the hosts. But in this boxing bout of a match Debenham scored again to make it 4-3 and the momentum was with them – until a solo goal by man of the match Stephen Drake made the points safe.
