Rains fails to deter Easter parkrun fans

Rain didn’t stop play at Brundall where there was an Easter parkrun with plenty of runners sporting bunny ears and Easter bonnets.

Harvey Wade celebrated his ninth birthday with a PB and Sarah Wiltshire completed her milestone 50th parkrun.

A total of 151 runners, including 20 first-timers, ran the course, with 22 new PBs and some happy Spring and sunshine-themed tunes playing, with chocolate Easter treats for junior runners.

Mark Clues ran his first ever first finish followed by Clive Cartner and Andy Clitheroe. Rebecca Pountain was first woman home for the 22nd time followed by Ardyn Ross and Karen Bradley.

Vikki Harper, who recently ran the London Landmarks Half Marathon for Alzheimer’s Research UK, held a raffle to raise money for the charity and also Heads Together, the charity Vikki is running for in the London Marathon. The raffle raised £372.

Ray Keevil notched up his 250th parkrun at Theford on a day when first across the line was Angus Clark in a PB of 18:17, followed by Kevin Vaughan (19:07) and Isaac Nugent (19:41). First woman home was Natalie King, 17th overall in 22:43, followed by Nicci Clark, 29th in 29:11 and Nik Greenhough, 31st in 24:30. A total of 187 runners took part.

Volunteers: Ann Elrick, Anne Theaker, Clare Duncan, Donna Finney, Eddie Theake, Francis Hart, Graham Collis, Graham Wade, Heidi Teixeira, John Dabbs, Joy Hart, Malcolm Duncan, Marilyn Dawn Cole, Melanie Sturman, Mick Colledge and Sharon Nash.

Jonathan Laybourn from the Finsbury Flyers was first home at King’s Lynn in 16:29, followed by Matt Pyatt (16:39) and Ryston Runners’ Nicholas Bensley (17;11). First woman home was Bethan Everson (Fenland Running Club) in 19:25, followed by Sally Lynn Hurst, from Renegade Runners, in a PB 20:09 and another Fenland RC runner Claudia Milburn (21:37).

City of Norwich AC’s Dominic Oliver was first home at Lowestoft in 17:17, followed by Samuel Stevens (17:43) and Lowestoft Road Runners’ Carl Prewer (18:07). Lindsey Coleman was first woman runner home in 19:58, followed by first-timer Sabrina Cant in 21:54 and another first-timer Elizabeth Driscoll in 22:25.
