Norwich were the big movers in the East Anglian Premier League thanks to a narrow victory at Vauxhall Mallards.

Oliver Sutton was the star man with the bat for Norwich at Ingham, smashing an unbeaten 87 from 60 balls, 15 of which reached the boundary, including one six.

Norwich skipper Chris Borrett won the toss and elected to put bottom-of-the-table Mallards into bat.

A steady run rate saw Mallards reach 192-7 from 47 overs before declaring, built around an 81-ball 35 from Matt Platter and a quick-fire 39 from 28 balls from Paul Bradshaw to boost the total.

Sutton, the son of former Norwich City and Chelsea footballer Chris, was also one of Norwich's top performers with the ball as he took two wickets for 35 runs in his six overs. Freddie Klassen also took two wickets for the home side, for 35 runs in nine overs.

Norwich then made a stuttering start to their chase, with only Ashley Watson finding his touch before falling for 29 with his side looking in trouble at 4-45.

Sutton joined Sanjay Mishra at the crease and got things going though, the pair putting on 46 before Mishra went for 27.

Fortunately for Norwich Sutton kept his foot on the pedal though and saw them to 194 with two wickets to spare, to seal 25 league points and a jump from fifth to second in the EAPL table.

Bradshaw, Dylan Blignaut and Adam Todd all took two wickets for Mallards, who are now 24 points adrift at the foot of the table.

Reigning champions Swardeston continue to close in on a third successive EAPL title after a four-wicket win at Copdock & Old Ipswichian.

Swardeston skipper Mark Thomas won the toss and put the home side into bat. Sam Thelwell struck in just the second over, for the first of his three wickets, to remove opener Jaik Mickleburgh for just a single run but then Swardeston had to dig in.

Chris Swallow and Martyn Cull put on 63 for the second wicket.

But George Walker made the debut with the first two of his four wickets in quick succession to put the visitors in control.

Walker combined with wicketkeeper Stephen Gray to take both Swallow for 41 in the 23rd over and then Felix Ward for a duck in the 25th.

Callum Taylor then took his only wicket of the day to remove Chris Warn for one and all of a sudden Copdock were down to 78-4, to eventually finish on 175-9 in their 60 overs.

Jordan Taylor (49) and Callum Taylor (41) were then the top batsman for Swardeston as the league leaders reached 177-6 in the 41st over.

Horsford leapfrogged Saffron Walden into seventh position with a six-wicket win at Manor Park.

The home side won the toss and put Walden into bat before bowling them out for 124, Ben France and Tim Alexander both with three wickets.

Horsford then made a poor start to their chase but an 120-run stand for the fourth wicket from Stephen Marillier (68) and France (40 not out) did most of the work to reach 125-4, to claim a very welcome 25 league points.
