There are just two more results to come in the Premier Division of the Norfolk SRA Squash leagues and after two surprising scorelines it is certain that East Anglia II, who won their only title three years ago, will finish top of the division ahead of their first team who are the reigning champions.

East Anglia II had a hugely important 17-10 victory over their first team with Gary Snelling beating Nigel Gillick in straight games and Steve Mooney coming from 2-1 down to beat Andrew Woods 10-13 13-9 7-13 13-6 13-11. Richard Hunt beat Ian Douglas 3-1 to keep the first team in contention, but then in a remarkable second string match the second team's Ashley Briggs recovered from the loss of the first two games to beat the seven times former county champion John Cordeaux 9-13 9-13 13-5 13-11 13-1. In the final first string match Dave Gouldby, for the first team had an excellent 13-10 13-11 11-13 11-13 13-10 marathon victory over David Youngs.

The second team picked up a fortuitous 20-point maximum when bottom of the table Diss conceded their match but any chances the first team may have had of finishing in the top spot vanished when they went down 18-8 to Bannatyne's who ensured that they themselves would finish in a highly creditable third place. Gillick and Woods both lost 3-1 to Paul Gedge and Paul Harvey respectively, Cordeaux was beaten 10-13 9-13 14-12 6-13 by the reigning Norfolk junior champion, Jordan Creed and Gouldby went down 3-2 to Chris Reeve in the first string match. Richard Hunt who beat Ali Dawson 3-1 was East Anglia's only winner.

Any two of Potters, Barnham Broom and Broadland could be involved in the relegation play-offs. Last week Potters won 14-8 at Broadland with Eric Plane and David Hall both winning 3-1 and David Cook winning in straight games but this week they went down 14-9 at home to Barnham Broom despite both Hall and Paul Field winning their matches in straight games. For Barnham Vince Somers, Simon Howling and Matthew Bolt all won 3-1 with the latter's 13-1 13-4 5-13 13-11 win over Jamie Goodrich being particularly impressive.

In Division One Sportspark bounced back to form with a 17-6 victory over East Anglia IV and remain favourites to gain automatic promotion. Eric De Rosa won 3-2, Joe Plumridge beat Nick Stringer 3-1 and both Richard Fiske and Andy Trim won their matches in straight games. Chris Butler who won 3-0 was East Anglia's one winner. East Anglia III will probably have to settle for the play-offs despite beating North Walsham 18-6. Peter Dean, Anthony Raywood and Nick Ross all won 3-1 while Hadleigh Farrer beat Matt Sumner in straight games. James Gair who won 3-1 was Walsham's only winner.

Bottom of the table Cromer lost their twelfth consecutive match going down 20-2 to Barnham Broom II for whom Stuart and Neil Sutton and Adie Martin all won in straight games while Wesley Hicks and Adam Goodson both won 3-1.

Broadland II wrapped up the Division Two title after two walk-overs and although Barnham Broom III will finish bottom the four other teams in the division could still be involved in either promotion or relegation play-offs. Fakenham made sure of winning Division Three as they won their re-arranged match at Oasis 20-0.

Broadland III need just eight points from two matches to win Division Four after Fakenham II conceded their match away to Beccles ladies. On court Oasis II won 13-5 at Beccles with Josh Hall and Alan Markwell both winning in straight games and Richard Hall winning 3-2. Terry Brookes who beat John Milton 3-0 was Beccles one winner.
