Lowestoft Town's Ryman League Premier campaign got off to a disappointing start at newly-promoted Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday.

The Trawlerboys gave debuts to summer signings Ashlee Jones, Jack Ainsley and Curtis Haynes but it wasn't enough to stop the Blues slumping to defeat.

Lowestoft made the brighter start and even had the ball in the back of the net early on through Chris Henderson only for the referee's assistant to rule it out for offside.

The Blues should have opened the scoring shortly afterwards when the lively Henderson was shoved to the ground inside the penalty area by Marc-Anthony Okoye and the referee pointed to the spot. However, Dan Gleeson's weak spot-kick was easily saved The miss appeared to galvanise Dulwich who suddenly started causing Lowestoft problems of their own and it came as no surprise when they took the lead in the 25th minute.

Erhun Oztumer danced his way through the Blues defence and although Jones got down well to save the ball fell to Ellis Green who gleefully tapped home to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage. Only a fantastic save from Jones prevented Dulwich from doubling their advantage when Green had got free once again.

Lowestoft looked brighter at the start of the second half with Jack Ainsley forcing Phil Wilson into a good save before firing the follow up into the side-netting.

The vistors were given further impetus when Green was showed a straight red card after clashing with Blues midfielder Andrew Fisk.

However, Lowestoft were unable to make the extra man count despite Henderson's best efforts.

The Blues were dealt a further blow when Haynes-Brown had to be substituted due to injury to be replaced by Erkan Okay. Lowestoft threw on another of their summer signings in Bradley Woods-Garness but before the former Canvey man could have any real impact Lowestoft found themselves 2-0 down.

Substitute Jerome Walker was hauled down inside the penalty area by Greg Crane and Oztumer stepped up to seal the points and complete a miserable day for the visitors.
