Emma Pooley has added yet another major title to her collection with a dominant performance at the ETU Powerman Middle Distance Duathlon European Championships.

The former Norwich High School for Girls pupil returned from retirement as a professional cyclist to compete in the Olympics in Rio last year and now focuses largely on duathlon competitions.

Racing in Sankt Wendel on Sunday the 34-year-old finished eight minutes and 59 seconds clear of her nearest rival in the elite women’s race.

The 2010 world time trial champion completed two 10km runs either side of a 60km cycle in a total of three hours, 19 minutes and 48 seconds.

Pooley won the ITU Long Distance Duathlon World Championships for the third time last year, as she continues to enjoy life after pro cycling, having won nine Olympic, World & Commonwealth medals.
