Diss will be eager to end their early-season inconsistency this afternoon when they travel to Colchester in London One North.

Phil Sharpe's men got their season off to a flying start with a good 43-8 win over Romford & Gidea Park at Mackenders.

But a week later and again on their home patch, they were thumped by one of this season's title favourites, Bury St Edmunds.

Now they head to Essex in what they acknowledge is a hard month of rugby coming – but knowing that they have the skills and players to build on the great opening result of the season.

Colchester have been equally up and down – in their opening game they thumped Luton 50-20, but a week later slipped to a 40-27 defeat at Rochester.

However, that has been enough to take them to third place in the embryonic table, behind Bury and Letchworth, with Diss in a mid-table position.
