Diss continue to find that elusive first league victory just beyond them.

In a very entertaining and open match both sides attempted to play an expansive and wide game with Old Haberdasher's having a little more pace and clinical know how when given scoring opportunities.

Diss yet again started slowly and the visitors set up a driving maul from a line out and then released fast ball to the blind side that enabled their left wing to score in the corner. The conversion was unsuccessful.

Diss continued to play on the back foot and conceded a further penalty for not releasing the tackled player and found themselves 8-0 down after only ten minutes.

The home side then started to win clean possession and drove forward close to both rucks and mauls. From one such attack John Laurie was able to take a short pass and ran through at least five defenders before scoring a try that went uncoverted. It was an outstanding effort from a player who always plays to his full potential and with great determination.

Diss were now very much back in the game and continued to attack , with Jack Peacock beginning to take control of the midfield. Following a quick tap after a free-kick Laurie was yet again on hand to touch down to put Diss in front for the first time. Again the conversion was missed.

At this point Diss were in the ascendancy but following another promising attack, possession was lost carelessly and Old Haberdashers swept up field to score a converted try wide on the left. The halftime whistle blew with Diss trailing 10-15.

Diss started the second half positively and following a five metre line-out, George Gooderham was able to drive over. Again the conversion was missed and it was level at 15-15.

Diss then spent a period of play during which they had control of possession but on too many occasions promising attacking opportunities were lost through careless errors or the wrong choice of options. Both sides exchanged penalties and the scores remained level with five minutes of play left.

Old Haberdashers then secured possession on their own 10m line and attacked with pace and determination. A number of tackles were missed and what proved to be the match winning score was touched down in the right hand corner.

There were encouraging signs from this game but when you keep losing it saps your confidence.
