Dereham were soundly beaten after a lacklustre performance against Tilbury.
Tilbury took an early lead when Siju Odelusi’s close range effort was deflected past keeper Elliot Pride from Toby Abomolaran’s centre.
Dereham won three corners but struggled to create any clear chances on the uneven playing surface.
In the 25th minute a Danny Beaumont free-kick nearly gave Jamie Forshaw a sight of goal at the back post.
Sam Borrer was unlucky to see his header strike the post whilst Tilbury’s Dwade James turned well outside the box but dragged his shot just off target.
Forshaw was crudely fouled by Keith Albie when in full flow while the Magpies came close in the 42nd minute when Beaumont’s corner from the left sailed past the back post with a finishing touch required.
The Dockers soon increased their lead after the break.
Odelusi’s header from Ross Gleed’s left flank centre cannoned off Pride’s post but the striker was on hand to net the rebound in the 48th minute for his second goal of the match.
Rhys Logan cut inside and chipped an inviting ball into the path of Borrer but defender Abdul Salami made a timely interception.
Dereham were unfortunate not to score when Beaumount’s goal-bound low diagonal drive struck defender Norman and landed in the arms of keeper Clarke Bogard in the 65th minute. They continued to find it difficult to link passes and Tilbury were denied a third in added time when Pride saved Odelusi’s close range effort.
