Dereham Town boss Matt Henman hailed his side for delivering 'the complete away performance' as the Magpies got back to winning ways in the Ridgeons Premier League at Haverhill Rovers on Saturday.

With Wroxham in FA Cup action, Dereham took the opportunity to close the gap at the top of the table to a single point, albeit having played two games more, thanks to strikes from Jack Marsden, an own goal and Gary Starling.

'It was the complete away performance – we started really brightly and managed to get control of the game,' he said. 'Jack then produced an excellent finish to get ourselves in front and we showed a lot of determination to preserve that lead to half time as Haverhill came on strong. We held firm in the second half and then Gary Starling's quality from set plays really told.'

Norwich United moved up to seventh with a far from convincing win over bottom of the table Wivenhoe Town. Louis Cutajar put the Planters ahead in the 19th minute shooting home from Andrew Claydon's pass from wide on the right.

Six minutes later the Planters were back in front with McNeil atoning for his mistake, his header came back off the bar but Steve Shipley was on hand to shoot home from close range.

The Planters thought they had sealed the victory when Andy Key's cross from the left was turned into his own net at the near post by Tim Dennis but Ryan Brown's excellent strike set up a nervy finish.

Wisbech swept aside the challenge of Hadleigh at home, running out convincing 4-1 winners. Callum Reed put the Fenmen in front before Matt Lunn doubled their advantage shortly after half time.
