A stretched King's Lynn Town side make their latest lengthy Evo-Stik Premier Division trip to Manchester this afternoon to face Trafford.

King's Lynn Town make their latest lengthy Evo-Stik Premier Division trip to Manchester today boosted by a new signing.

Gary Setchell's options for the game at Trafford had been limited further this week when Marc Goodfellow decided to quit The Walks to join league rivals Worksop Town. His departure came hot on the heels of Jake Jones' three-month loan spell ending and Massiah McDonald's seven-game ban beginning.

It appeared as though the Linnets would be short on numbers today - but the capture of winger Peter Bore yesterday has eased the situation.

Signed on a dual registration from Boston United, Bore is expected to go straight into the team at Trafford. The 26-year-old, who started his career at Grimsby, for whom he made of 150 appearances, is seen as a direct replacement for Goodfellow.

A visibly tired Lynn ground out a 3-2 home triumph over Barwell on New Year's Day and speaking before snapping up Bore manager Setchell admitted he was short on numbers.

'Massiah's banned, Jonah's gone back to Tamworth and now Goody's left us,' he said. 'But we'll travel up to Trafford and give it a go.'

Lynn, seventh, can move into the top five if they win and other results go their way. But it won't be easy against Trafford, who have only lost twice in their last 11 games.

The Linnets' cause hasn't been helped by Goodfellow's departure less than 24 hours after their January 1 triumph at The Walks. Money, and perhaps less travelling, appeared to play a large part in his shock exit.

The free-kick specialist, who only signed for Lynn in November, said on Twitter: 'I'd just like to thank all the fans, management and players for making my short time at Lynn a very enjoyable time with the club.

'I'm sad to be leaving such a great club that gave me the chance to prove myself at this level. I wish you (Lynn) all the best for the rest of the season. It's been great to be a part of your club. Thanks, Marc.'

Today will be the first time the Linnets will take to the field without the 32-year-old since his move. And it will also be the first occassion the club have faced the outfit that were formed just 14 years ago in 1990.

Trafford have had mixed fortunes this season progressing to the third qualifying round of the FA Cup - defeating Altrincham on the way before going down 4-2 to Corby Town.
