From a 35-year passion for horses and a 20-year passion for cobs and spotted horses, Deleyse has owned and sold many but also shown vanner cobs some 18 years ago. She now owns a stud and has got back into showing, but mainly enjoys carriage driving as a hobby.

A little over a year ago, Denise purchased Afon Mr Crispy, a 14.2 Registered partbred Appaloosa x Newforest palomino spot. At just six years old, he was not the healthy picture he is today having spent eight months in a stable, only coming out to cover mares due to the loss of grazing from the previous owner.

He was very underweight due to ragwort riddled hay, but Deleyse saw through this and brought him home.

With a great deal of help from Lesley at Chapelfield Vets in Long Stratton, she has managed to get the stallion fighting fit and back to a picture of health as you see him today.

In this past year, although not handled very much, he's been out showing already and proved to be a very good investment as, after his second ever outing at the Eastern Appaloosa show near Peterbourgh, he qualified for the Royal London show, where he won the 14.2 and under spotted pony championship. At home, he has produced a colt foal this year which has turned out a chocolate palomino/liver chestnut skewbald from a skewbald traditional mare and he has covered again so next year he will have four more foals, three of which are from outside mares.

Deleyse is hoping to continue his education and have him out under saddle in 2008 and progress onto carriage driving, as well as standing at stud for selected mares.

n Colliyers Stud, owned by Mr and Mrs Clark, has had a successful year with Rachael Hawes showing their ponies.

Their Welsh Section A two-year-old Colt, Colliyers Lite, won his class at the Buckenham RDA Show a couple of weeks back, took the championship and then stood Reserve Supreme In-Hand Champion.

This is only the second time he has been shown this year, his first outing was to the Royal Norfolk where he came second in a strong two and three-year-old class. He is by the studs well known stallion Casob Microlite.

His full yearling sister, Collyers Good as Gold, has also had a good season with three firsts and four seconds. Both ponies have been shown by Rachael, who in her own right has had a successful year having two of her own bred ponies qualifiying for Horse of The Year Show again this year.

n Greenwing Alfie Moon is a three-year-old welsh D colt by sire danaway tango dam synod ricadonna. He stood champion overall in the Gly Greenwood at ponies UK in the summer and was reserve supreme at the NPS area 15, then again had success at Pymoor Country Show where he stood reserve supreme.

He belongs to Georgina Wilkes who lives at Filby near Great Yarmouth. She hopes to bring him out in ridden classes next year and then will stand him at stud in 2009.
