Great Yarmouth club DAP CC had a great day at Ixworth Village Races with wins in both the men's and women's races.

Amazingly it was, in both cases, their rider's second event of the day.

Mark Richards (DAP CC) stretched out the senior men's field, broke clear with Toby Parnell and then struck out alone to win after a 20-minute solo break.

DAP's Frankie Hall worked with Hub Velo rider Karen Tostee, and won the women's race by two seconds, a lap ahead of the rest.

Earlier, Hall had been second woman in the VC Baracchi 10 at Wortwell, finishing in 23:11, behind a course record breaking ride of 22:16 from Rebecca Johnson (Team Fusion).

In the same event Richards' 20:41 was exactly a minute down on men's winner Matthew Senter (VeloVelocity).

In a sun-drenched afternoon at Ixworth, Charlie Wright (Strada Sport) was third behind Richards, while there was a second place for Andy Defrates (VC Norwich) in the Master's race.

Rob Kitchen (East Coast Riders) stirred up the Fourth Cat men by an early attack and was rewarded with third step on the podium.

The mountain bike racing at Phoenix Bikes, Kentford, saw a win for Norwich rider, former triathlete Nicole Beck (Epic Orange) who revelled in the challenging course. 'Lots of twisty stuff and berms,' she said.

Jimmy Piper – now in Renvale black – took the Vets 50-plus race, while Seb Herrod was second in the Elite/Expert men's category to Andrew Cockburn – though both not quite as fast as Vets 40-49 winner Paul Lloyd.

Iceni Velo's Callum Laborde took third in the Under 14s, opening a gap on clubmate Joseph Smith on the grass straight.

There was spirited racing at the opening round of the Lotus Cycle Racing League at Hethel, with a group of six succeeding in establishing a break in the Senior race – no easy task on the smooth wide Lotus Cars' test track.

By the finish of the 50 minute blast Strada Sport's Thomas Heal had struck out alone and won by 10 seconds from Gabriel Fowden, Morris Bacon and Charlie Wright (Strada).
