Crusaders 57, Hadleigh 5

In a game played in blizzard conditions throughout, both teams produced a feast of open rugby, with the ball being spread wide despite bitterly cold hands.

Crusaders reproduced their second half form at Newmarket and built a 24-0 lead at half-time in the Eastern Counties League Division One fixture, with tries from Sandland (2), Worrell and Cameron, Tristan Smith converting two of them.

Hadleigh gave Crusaders a severe test in the second half but they were unable to pierce a strong defence. Crusaders on the other hand moved their possession swiftly wide and full-back Smith helped himself to a hat-trick of tries after Tom Sandland had scored his second of the match.

Hadleigh's effort never waned and they were rewarded with a well worked try near the end.

Crusaders were not finished and a wonderful pick up and feed from Ross Nicholson was carried into the visitors' half before being spun out to Martin Alcock who scored in the corner. Smith added to his impressive kicking display to convert from the touch line.
