Cromer Town have been given an early season boost in the Dolphin Autos Anglian Football Combination Premier Division title race. While the reigning champions were retaining their 100pc record with a 3-1 win over Mattishall on Saturday, big rivals Blofield were losing 2-0 to Wroxham Reserves. Goals from Tom Davies, Joe Kerry and Darren Terrington at Cabbell Park earned Cromer a fifth successive victory. That maintains their goal difference advantage over Lowestoft Town Reserves, who overcame North Walsham 2-0 (Rory French and Daniel Mitchell) at Crown Meadow.

Blofield, who were beaten by goals from Kieran Patel and Nicki Young at Trafford Park, are now five points off the pace in third place, which they hold on goal difference from Brandon and North Walsham.

John Waites scored for Brandon in their 4-1 defeat by Sprowston Athletic, whose marksmen were Rikki George, Lee Howard, David Potter and Matthew Racher.

Wroxham are now sixth, just above Sprowston, with Beccles Town eighth on goal difference from Sheringham.

Beccles drew 1-1 with Norwich Union at College Meadow, where Zac Colman and Martin Addison were their respective scorers, while Sheringham won 2-1 (Kristian Gleave and Darren Nichols) at second-from-bottom Acle, for whom Lee Bennett replied.

Mattishall are 10th on goal difference from Dersingham Rovers, who won 2-1 (Stuart Able and Steven Clark) against St Andrews.

Goals from Martin Gent, Philip King and Simon Mann earned Attleborough a 3-1 win at Halvergate (Wayne Hunter) in the other top-flight fixture.

Dereham Town Reserves, meanwhile, went top of Division One by two points when they beat Holt 2-0 (Nathan Ferguson and Simon Mowbray) while morning table leaders Gayton lost 3-1 (Chris Bunting) at Hempnall, for whom Shaun Flint, Paul Franklin and Iain Mills were on target.

Gayton are now third on goal difference behind Wymondham Town, who won 4-0 (Gareth Downs 3 and Stu Catchpole) at Southwold.

Long Stratton are fourth, ahead of Hempnall, after a 4-0 defeat by Aylsham Wanderers, whose marksmen were Sam Bryant (3) and Matthew Reynolds.

Scole beat Wells 3-0 (Wayne Barrett, Sean Taylor and Robert Tooke) and are sixth on goal difference from Mundford, Stalham, Wells and Southwold.

Mundford lost 2-0 to Hindringham, whose scorers were Scott Gray and Darren West, while Stalham were beaten 3-2 (David Dockerty and John Nicholson) at Watton.

Sprowston Wanderers, who are struggling for players, called off both their first team game against Loddon and their reserves' Division Five visit to Foulsham.
