The Crabs, who are second in the Premier Division table to Spixworth's lowly postion of third from bottom, will now host Ridgeons Premier Division Norwich United in the semi-final next month.

The other semi-final was already known and will feature near neighbours Dereham and Mattishall.

Cromer manager Chris Wigger said: 'We knew there was a real good chance to progress - there was a lot at stake. We are really chuffed to be in the next round.'

Cromer's Darren Terrington opened the scoring, sneaking a shot in at the near post, then team-mate Ryan Honeyman netted a shot after the keeper parried from Terrington.

In the 84th minute Tom Davies handled on the goal-line and was sent off and Spixworth's Damian Didwell slotted home the penalty.

Cromer themselves got a penalty when Terrington was fouled by the keeper and captain David Harwood scored from the spot.

Meanwhile, in the Anglian Combination leaders North Walsham stretched their lead after a 2-1 win at Acle with Dale Wilton and Paul Wheeler scoring with Daniel Foreman adding the consolation.

Beccles beat Sprowston Athletic 4-0 with goals by Ricci Wilson, Alan Remblance, Jason Clarke and an own goal.

Blofield United travelled to Dersingham and returned with a 6-1 win with Danny Brown hitting a hat-trick, Danny McKail a brace and one from Paul Warman, with Lloyd Drewery getting the consolation goal.

It was a goal fest at Hempnall where they beat Brandon 8-2 with Paul Franklin netting a hat-trick, Tom Halliwell two and other goals from Ben Player, Robert Browne and Kelvin Willimott. In reply, John Waites hit a brace.

Sheringham hosted Mattishall and lost 3-1. Ben Abbs scored for the Shannocks with Chris Hall, Ben Lewis and Jason Cole on the scoresheet for the visitors.

The other games Loddon United v St Andrews and Wroxham Res v Watton Utd were both postponed.
