County Arts lifted the Bales Cup for the 11th time in their history thanks to a 59-45 victory over Norfolk BC.

The win owed much to the rink skipped by Peter Wilkinson with an 18 shot victory and whilst Norfolk BC won close matches on the other two rinks it was County Arts who deservedly lifted the trophy.

There was some consolation for Norfolk BC who followed up their win of the Hansells County Premier League title by winning the Lord Fermoy Cup double fours by beating Freethorpe by 47 shots to 31. Norfolk BC won on both rinks with their home rink skipped by Wayne Willgress winning by 14 shots and being backed up at Freethorpe by the rink skipped by Mark Riches winning by two shots.

The final zonal matches in the Hansells County League were played last week and with Norfolk BC having already secured the Premier title, for the sixth successive year, attention was focused on the regional zones.

The Zone 1 winners play off for the WP Baker Cup and a place in next year's Premier League. RG Carter A took the North 1 title on shots difference from North Walsham A and will be joined in the play-offs by Mundford, who had a 100pc record in Central 1, Hunstanton A, Norfolk BC B and Norwich Union.

The preliminary round match between Hunstanton and Norfolk BC will be played on Wednesday, August 9 at GW Staniforth BC and will then be followed by semi-finals and final at Thorpe Rec BC on Sunday, August 13. The semi-final draw sees the winner of the Hunstanton/Norfolk BC tie play Norwich Union whilst Mundford meet RG Carter.
